11th annual Selfies With Santa
The gift that Selfies with Santa at the Double J Ranch provides families and their children is a reminder of the simple beauty that life offers us when we take a moment to step out of our busy lives. The ranch celebrated its 11th annual Selfies with Santa in Montara. Each year is filled with more joy than the year before. Mrs. Claus loved to see children with innocent eyes of wonder taking in all that was offered at the ranch, including the horses who were all dressed up for the day with antlers and mistletoe. When Santa galloped into the corral on his beautiful black horse shouting “Merry Christmas to all”, everyone was thrilled! We sang the Twelve Days of Christmas with the children taking the lead and their families all joining in and everyone sang loud with big hearts! The Turpentine band was at their best! The whole day was one of magic being with the horses, sharing happiness with the volunteers and the beautiful families. It was a gift straight from the heart. There was a relay race for the young ones and horse and pony rides too. With "Christmas Every Day in our Hearts” the world is a better place indeed. Thank you for sharing your love and support for the Double J Ranch. Thank you for sharing your love in spirit and always. Sending a very Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

2025 Halloween at the Ranch

Sleepy Hollow (by way of Misty Montara) November 1, 2025 – Noon to 2 p.m.
The tale has been told over many the year
Why the Headless Horseman is always in tears!
He can’t find his head, but a pumpkin might do!
Come ride in the mist . . . if you like pumpkin stew!
Once again, the event at The Double J Ranch did not disappoint this year! It gave the children and their families another day to wear their Halloween costumes and enjoy fun and laughter and share the magic beauty of the ranch. Children “of all ages” – enjoyed rides on the horses. For the litle kids who weren’t ready to get on a “real horse” – there were rocking ponies and games and lots of goodies to eat. The Bluegrass band was wonderful and a couple of the horses were seen leaning over the fence to take in the music. To top it all off, there was a Kissing Booth for anyone who wanted to give a kiss to Alibi, one of the beautiful horses we call family at the ranch. Alibi loved all the kisses he received at “no charge,” but if you had a carrot in your pocket, he wouldn’t have minded!
Our love and gratitude to the many hooves that made a miracle this day at the Double J Ranch. Thank you, Joe, Arlene, the Boy Scouts, the many volunteers and musicians and our wonderful neighbors and friends who dropped by. Thank you for sharing an afternoon of love and laughter with Shiny, Styx, Alibi, Smoky and Clover. If you missed this year’s event, please come next year – unless the Headless Horseman has finally found his head!
